Magical Theory

A class designed specifically for aspiring teachers, Magical Theory details all of the research that has been done on magic throughout history and where exactly it comes from.

Although not a required class to become a teacher, it does give a better background for those who are interested in the mechanics of magic. It is classified as an advanced elective that takes place in Seventh Year, or in the Graduate Program. Of all the classes that Gerhardt has, this class has had the most guest lecturers due to the theoretical nature of the material.

The primary teacher for the class is Professor Jansen. Although he rarely is seen by the majority of students except for meal times, he stays with the principal and assistant principal in the administration building on Gerhardt's campus. Of all the faculty, he is the most antisocial and has never attended a Gerhardt Christmas party. It is rumored amongst students that if he lets you attend office hours that you are a favorite of his, since always cancels office hours weekly.

Very few take magical theory, making it the smallest class as well having only had a maximum enrollment of seventeen students at its peak. The person who has a class grade record in the class is held by Professor Orion, and he is the main substitute teacher for emergencies, although it is a rarity.
